ARLINGTON, VA — An Arlington woman squeezed in a Virginia Lottery game during her lunch break and watched an ordinary workday turn into a $1,727,474 payday when MONOPOLY Super Spin delivered its progressive jackpot.
The woman played the online instant game through the Virginia Lottery, never expecting what appeared on her screen.
“Never in my lifetime did I imagine this happening!” she later told Lottery officials.
Her first reaction was disbelief.
“I can’t believe it!” she recalled thinking.
She called her husband over to look at the screen and confirm what she was seeing.
“You’re lying! You’re lying!” he responded, according to the Lottery.
The prize was real: $1,727,474.
The winner chose to claim the prize anonymously, a choice available to Virginia Lottery winners under state law. The Lottery therefore did not publicly release her identity.
MONOPOLY Super Spin is an online instant game featuring a progressive jackpot that grows until it is won. The Virginia Lottery lists the overall odds of winning any prize in the game at 1 in 3.88 per play.
