TRENTON, N.J. – Dywann Pugh, 44, from Asbury Park, New Jersey, was sentenced today to 10 years in prison for his involvement in drug distribution and firearms offenses. The sentencing took place in Trenton federal court, where U.S. District Judge Zahid N. Quraishi presided.
Pugh had previously admitted guilt to charges of possessing with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture containing methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. These pleas were entered before former U.S. District Judge Peter G. Sheridan.
The charges stemmed from a November 21, 2022, operation where law enforcement executed search warrants at Pugh’s residence. During the search, officers found over three kilograms each of methamphetamine and cocaine, about 150 grams of fentanyl, approximately $19,000 in cash, and various drug distribution tools including a pill press and about seven kilograms of cutting agents. Additionally, a loaded Hi-Point .380 caliber pistol was recovered.
Beyond his prison term, Judge Quraishi has mandated a five-year period of supervised release for Pugh. Additionally, the firearm and ammunition confiscated during the raid were ordered forfeited by Judge Sheridan.
The successful outcome of this case was credited to the collaborative efforts of the Drug Enforcement Administration, Homeland Security Investigations Newark, and the Neptune Township Police Department. U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger acknowledged the direction and support of DEA Special Agent in Charge Cheryl Ortiz, Acting Special Agent in Charge William S. Walker of Homeland Security Investigations Newark, and Chief Anthony Gualario of the Neptune Township Police Department.
