MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Local and county law enforcement officials issued a joint statement addressing reports of drone activity observed on November 18, 2024, in the area, emphasizing there is no known threat to public safety.

The statement, released by Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Sheriff James M. Gannon, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and other law enforcement leaders, confirmed that drones were spotted during routine patrols. Authorities from multiple agencies, including federal and state partners, are monitoring and investigating the activity.

The announcement follows the spread of unverified rumors about the drones on social media. Officials urged residents to exercise caution when sharing information online, noting that much of what is circulating may be inaccurate.

“We want the public to know we are aware of the activity and are actively coordinating efforts to investigate it,” the statement said, while reiterating that no immediate danger has been identified.

Residents with information about the drones are encouraged to report it to their local police department, reserving 911 calls for emergencies only.
