Mother allegedly shoots 1-year-old daughter in front of her sister

Sulphur, LA – A Sulphur woman is accused of fatally shooting her one-year-old daughter in their home. Kristin Bass, 28, has been charged with first-degree murder.

The incident occurred on Thursday, New Year’s Day, when Bass and her children were at home with their father, Bradley Moss. After hearing a loud noise, Moss found Bass holding a gun.

Their daughter, Acelynn Moss, had been shot, and her two-year-old sister was crying for help.

Moss reported that the older sister cried out for assistance, saying, “Help me, daddy.”

“I almost lost two babies,” Moss said. He expressed grief over the loss of his daughter, attributing it to Bass’s actions.

After the shooting, Bass allegedly declared to Moss, “I just sent our baby to God.”

Police responded to the scene after 8 p.m. and arrested Bass. The Department of Children and Family Services took custody of the surviving child.

Bass’s bond was set at $10 million, and the investigation is ongoing.
