Motorcyclist killed in early morning crash on Millsboro Highway

MILLSBORO, Del. — A 58-year-old man was killed early Sunday morning when a minivan veered into his lane and struck his motorcycle on Millsboro Highway, according to Delaware State Police.

The fatal crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. on May 25. Police say a 2006 Toyota Sienna was traveling southbound just north of East Line Road when the driver failed to maintain his lane while navigating a curve. The vehicle crossed into the northbound lane and struck a 2010 Victory motorcycle traveling in the opposite direction.

The impact ejected the motorcyclist, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said the victim was a Millsboro resident, but his name has not been released pending family notification.

The Toyota’s driver, a 48-year-old man from Salisbury, Maryland, was not injured in the crash. Two of his passengers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital. A third passenger was unhurt.

Crash remains under investigation

Millsboro Highway was closed for approximately three and a half hours as troopers investigated the scene and cleared the roadway. Delaware State Police have not announced any charges or citations as of Sunday afternoon.

The circumstances leading up to the crash are still under investigation, and police have not confirmed whether impairment or speed played a role.
