MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. — A Mount Laurel man faces criminal charges after police say a dispute connected to a juvenile sporting event escalated into harassment and bias intimidation earlier this week in Burlington County.
Thomas Diorio, 40, of Mount Laurel, was charged following an investigation into an alleged confrontation Monday evening in the 3000 block of Xenium Drive, according to the Mount Laurel Police Department.
Police said officers responded around 6:26 p.m. Monday for reports of a verbal dispute tied to a youth sporting event. Officers separated the involved parties at the scene and conducted an initial investigation, but neither side initially chose to pursue criminal complaints.
Video Review Led to Criminal Charges
According to police, detectives later reviewed video footage submitted to the department Tuesday as part of follow-up investigative efforts.
Investigators said the footage showed Diorio confronting a female victim during the incident. Following the review, Mount Laurel police filed criminal complaints charging Diorio with harassment and bias intimidation.
