WASHINGTON – New Jersey lawmakers met in the nation’s capital on Wednesday to push for restoring the state and local tax (SALT) deduction, securing federal transit funding, and addressing health care affordability.
Governor Phil Murphy and members of the New Jersey congressional delegation discussed legislative priorities and the potential impact of federal policies on the state’s economy. The meeting focused on reversing the SALT cap, which limits deductions on state and local taxes and has been a contentious issue for high-tax states like New Jersey.
Attendees also emphasized the need for reliable public transit funding and efforts to reduce costs for residents. “We can’t let Trump’s chaos hurt our state,” Congressman Frank Pallone stated on social media following the meeting.
