CUMBERLAND, MD – A Cumberland man who refused to turn down his music by his neighbor was subsequently arrested for an active warrant when police arrived.
Police showed up at a home on the 300 block of Greene Street late Saturday night after a woman complained about her neighbor’s loud music.
“Upon their arrival, police contacted the caller who advised that her neighbor was playing loud music. Police contacted the neighbor and had him turn the music down,” the Cumberland Police Department said. “At this time, the neighbor would not provide any of his information to the officer. After further investigation, the officer was able to identify the neighbor as Ronnie Swancey.”
Police said officers discovered that Swancey had an active felony arrest warrant. The warrant was issued in connection with an assault investigation that began on May 7th. Police said Swancey was reported to be the suspect in an assault involving a knife.
“When police advised Swancey that he was under arrest, he did not comply, caused a disturbance, and resisted arrest. Officers were eventually able to secure Swancey and transport him to the police station,” CPD said in a statement.
He was then transported to Central Booking and later seen by a District Court Commissioner for his initial appearance. Swancey was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center, held without bond.
