TRENTON, NJ March 2, 2024 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced a recall by CJ Foods Manufacturing Beaumont Corporation for approximately 61,839 pounds of Trader Joe’s Steamed Chicken Soup Dumplings. The recall is due to the potential contamination with foreign materials, specifically pieces of hard plastic believed to be from a permanent marker pen.

The affected chicken soup dumplings were produced on December 7, 2023, and include:

6-oz. boxes containing six pieces of “TRADER JOE’S Steamed Chicken Soup Dumplings” with lot codes “03.07.25.C1-1” and “03.07.25.C1-2” printed on the box side.

These products also bear the establishment number “P-46009” within the USDA mark of inspection and were distributed to Trader Joe’s stores nationwide.

The issue came to light following consumer complaints about discovering hard plastic in the dumplings. While there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions or injuries from consuming the product, the FSIS is advising consumers to exercise caution.

Consumers who have purchased these dumplings are advised not to consume them. The recalled products should either be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for a refund.

The FSIS is conducting recall effectiveness checks to ensure that the recalling firm has notified their customers and that steps are being taken to ensure the product is no longer available to consumers. Once available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on the FSIS website.
