Powerball Xs & Os lets New Jersey players pick NFL team logos instead of numbers while chasing weekly cash and Super Bowl prizes
TRENTON, NJ – New Jersey lottery players can now turn their NFL team picks into a shot at a $1 million starting jackpot as Powerball Xs & Os launches with weekly drawings, cash prizes and a separate national promotion offering a trip to Super Bowl LXI.
Tickets for the new Powerball and NFL game went on sale Tuesday, with the first drawing scheduled for Sunday at 10 p.m. ET.
Powerball Xs & Os costs $5 per play and replaces the traditional number-picking format with the logos of the NFL’s 32 teams.
Players select eight team logos for each play. During the weekly drawing, eight winning team logos are randomly selected.
Matching all eight wins the rolling jackpot, which starts at $1 million and increases when a drawing produces no jackpot winner.
Players can also collect smaller cash prizes by matching some of the eight teams. Matching seven pays $20,000, six pays $500, five pays $40 and four pays $7.
The NFL theme does not mean the lottery results depend on what happens on the football field. The winning logos are selected randomly and are not connected to NFL game results.
The launch also introduces the first national promotional prize program in Powerball history.
Players can enter eligible winning or non-winning Powerball Xs & Os tickets at PowerballOfficial.com to earn points. Those points can then be assigned as entries into promotional drawings selected by the player.
Prizes include a trip to Super Bowl LXI, NFL Shop gift cards and NFL experiences.
There is no additional charge to participate in the promotional drawings beyond purchasing an eligible Powerball Xs & Os ticket.
New Jersey is one of 24 lottery jurisdictions offering the game at launch. The others include Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont and West Virginia.
Additional U.S. lotteries are expected to join later in the year.
Powerball Xs & Os is a lottery draw game and not sports betting.
