New Jersey Morning Commuter Traffic Report

JERSEY CITY, N.J. — As of this morning, several incidents and delays have been reported across New Jersey’s major roadways, affecting commuters heading into work.

A traffic signal is down on US 1&9/Tonnelle Avenue in both directions near Manhattan Avenue in Jersey City, causing a complete closure of all lanes as of 8:22 a.m. Earlier, at 7:58 a.m., a crash involving an overturned vehicle on the New Jersey Turnpike’s Pennsylvania Extension westbound at the exit ramp to US 130 from Interchange 6A in Florence Township has left the left shoulder blocked.

Ongoing construction and a water main break on Cargo Plaza, located between 150th Avenue and Center Cargo Road, have led to all lanes being closed and traffic detoured in the area since 5:28 a.m. Meanwhile, delays are widespread across the New Jersey Turnpike, including a two-mile delay eastbound on the Eastern Spur from east of Interchange 14 in Newark, and a three-mile delay northbound from North of Exit 69 in Teaneck Township to the George Washington Bridge.

Commuters should also expect delays at the Lincoln Tunnel, with travel times reaching 30 minutes from the New Jersey Turnpike Exit 16E to the New York side as of 8:30 a.m. Similarly, delays of up to 40 minutes have been reported on the George Washington Bridge’s upper level eastbound, affecting traffic on I-95 from I-80 to the Alexander Hamilton Bridge.

Drivers are advised to plan their routes accordingly and consider alternate options where possible.
