FORDS, NJ – The vinyl revival of the 2020’s wasn’t enough to keep the longtime owners of Ford New Jersey’s iconic record store from finally retiring. On Friday, Rob and Diana Roth, the owners of the legendary record store Vintage Vinyl turned the flipped sign for good, ending a 42 year run that spanned across multiple generations and music trends.
Back in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s Vintage Vinyl was New Jersey’s answer to record store mega giant Tower Records. You could find anything you wanted to get at Vintage Vinyl. For decades, the store held one of the most diverse record collections in New Jersey, if not the entire East Coast.
Eventually the store became a rock ‘n’ roll venue hosting acts such as Queens of the Stoneage, Jimmy Eats World, Nick Jonas, Bouncing Souls, Jake Clemons, and Black Label Society.
The owners say there was some interest in a possible purchase of the business, but to date nothing has been announced.
