Ocean County awards millions in contracts for road upgrades, vehicles, and facility services
Toms River, NJ — Ocean County is moving forward with a wave of contract approvals this week, awarding over $5 million in new public spending for transportation upgrades, vehicle acquisitions, safety systems, and critical infrastructure improvements across the county.
Topping the list is a $3.48 million contract awarded to Earle Asphalt Company for the construction of a new roundabout at Central Avenue (CR 31) and North Hope Chapel Road (CR 639) in Jackson Township. The high-traffic intersection will undergo a full transformation aimed at improving safety and traffic flow.
Another major project includes the Mill Creek Trail contract awarded to Capela Construction, Inc. for $1.54 million. The bid covers both the trail’s construction and a $25,000 project allowance.
Several vehicle purchases were approved through competitive bidding, with Rohrer Enterprises, LLC winning contracts to supply both mini buses and mini vans, while United Ford, LLC and Pacifico Ford, Inc. will deliver pickup trucks. A separate rollover agreement was authorized with Winner Ford to continue supplying cars and SUVs into the 2026 model year.
The county also awarded contracts for solar-powered LED chevron radar signs and curve warning systems to Eberl Iron Works, Inc. and Traffic and Parking Control Co., LLC—part of ongoing efforts to modernize traffic safety equipment along high-risk roadways.
Maintenance and service contracts were extended for existing vendors, including Fire Security Technologies, Inc. for fire alarm servicing at the Justice Complex and Courthouse No. II, and Russell Reid Waste Hauling and Disposal Service Co., Inc. for septic tank and sewage ejector pit pumping.
Corrections were made to previously awarded contracts, including two amendments adjusting funding allocations for resurfacing projects on Lacey Road and various other township roads under Contract 2023B.
One notable contract revision involved a change in janitorial supply vendors after Qualmax Supplies failed to honor its pricing. The county will instead proceed with Acuity Specialty Products, Inc. (Zep Sales and Service) for the affected item.
