New York man sentenced to nearly three years for wire fraud conspiracy

HARRISBURG, Pa. — A Brooklyn man has been sentenced to 34 months in federal prison for his role in a multi-state wire fraud conspiracy, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced.

Christopher Marquis Windsor, 33, was sentenced Wednesday by U.S. District Court Judge Jennifer P. Wilson after pleading guilty to wire fraud conspiracy and interstate transportation of stolen goods. Prosecutors said Windsor and multiple co-conspirators defrauded nearly 60 businesses across 23 states and Washington, D.C., over a five-year period.

Between November 2017 and October 2022, Windsor and his accomplices used fake names, sham email addresses, and fraudulent credit cards to rent audio equipment from businesses. Instead of returning the rented items, they sold the stolen equipment on online marketplaces, including eBay, Facebook, OfferUp, and Reverb. The scheme resulted in $1,077,651.84 in losses.

In addition to his prison sentence, Windsor was ordered to pay $984,919.66 in restitution.
