CHATHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ—Nafis H. Wiggins, 26, of Newark, has been sentenced to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison following his involvement in a criminal case stemming from a December 2023 arrest.
The sentencing, announced by Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll, took place on August 1, 2024, under the jurisdiction of the Honorable Claudia Jones, J.S.C.
Wiggins, who pleaded guilty on March 1, 2024, to two counts of second-degree Luring and one count of third-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance with Intent to Distribute, was arrested last year at Cougar Field in Chatham Township.
During the period from August 1 to September 28, 2023,
Wiggins, then 25, engaged in illegal activities involving two minors, ages 14 and 15, whom he lured via text messages for sexual favors in exchange for narcotics.
The investigation, led by the Chatham Township Police and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office’s Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit, revealed that Wiggins met the victims in Chatham Township and Borough, transporting them to secluded areas for drug use and sexual activities. Along with his prison sentence,
Wiggins is required to register under Megan’s Law and will be subject to parole supervision for life.
Prosecutor Carroll extended his gratitude to the agencies involved in the case, highlighting their efforts in achieving a successful prosecution.
