NEWARK, NJ – Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man wanted in connection with a robbery that left a victim unconscious on Walnut Street last month.

Authorities say the attack happened around 6 a.m. on September 22 as the victim walked toward Pacific Street.

According to investigators, the suspect struck the man from behind, causing him to lose consciousness before stealing his cell phone and a green Puma book bag containing a debit card and personal belongings.

Detectives describe the suspect as a Black male wearing a black jacket with a reflective hood strip, a yellow long-sleeve shirt, and black pants. He was last seen carrying a skateboard.

One early-morning assault has now become a citywide search to bring a violent thief to justice.
