Toms River, NJ – Ocean County jail records show Rolando Gurdian-Zeledon was committed to the county correctional facility on Saturday and is being held without bail on multiple criminal charges stemming from two related court cases.
According to the inmate records, Gurdian-Zeledon, whose country of birth and citizenship are listed as Nicaragua, is also the subject of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer. The records indicate the detainer was issued by U.S. Immigration authorities. It is not known why ICE filed the detainer at this time.
What the records show
Court records list charges that include simple assault, threats to kill, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
He was charged with disorderly persons simple assault under New Jersey law, third-degree threats to kill, fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Some charges appear multiple times in the inmate record, indicating allegations involving more than one incident or victim.
Immigration detainer filed
The inmate record also reflects an active ICE detainer. An immigration detainer is a request asking a local correctional facility to notify federal immigration authorities before an inmate is released so the agency may assume custody if authorized by law.
As of Monday, no projected release date was listed for Gurdian-Zeledon in the Ocean County Jail system.
The filing of a no-bail order means the defendant will remain in custody pending further court proceedings unless a judge orders otherwise. The additional ICE detainer could affect custody status following the resolution of the state criminal case.
