Newark, NJ – NJ TRANSIT has restored regular service on most of its rail network following severe storms that struck New Jersey Friday night, but service remains suspended on the Morris & Essex and Gladstone Branch lines as repair work continues.
The agency announced Sunday that the Montclair-Boonton Line and North Jersey Coast Line have resumed regular weekend service. However, the Morris & Essex and Gladstone Branch lines will remain out of service for the entire day because of ongoing infrastructure repairs.
Storm damage continues to impact rail network
NJ TRANSIT said crews are continuing to repair damage caused by Friday night’s storms. While most rail lines have resumed normal operations, customers should expect the possibility of residual delays across the system.
The agency is encouraging riders to check service updates before traveling as restoration efforts continue.
Cross-honoring remains available
To assist affected passengers, NJ TRANSIT rail tickets and passes are being cross-honored on NJ TRANSIT buses, participating private carrier buses and PATH trains.
Cross-honoring is available at Newark Penn Station, Hoboken Terminal and the 33rd Street PATH station in New York. Customers can find alternate travel options by visiting njtransit.com/ABC.
