Newark, NJ – NJ TRANSIT rail riders across the state will continue to face modified service Tuesday as the agency implemented a Severe Weather Level 2 schedule, while buses, light rail, and paratransit services continued to operate on regular weekday timetables.

Rail service reductions affected most commuter lines, including the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast Line, Raritan Valley Line, Morris & Essex Line, Montclair-Boonton Line, Main-Bergen and Port Jervis lines, Pascack Valley Line, and the Gladstone Branch. NJ TRANSIT said the changes were necessary due to ongoing weather conditions impacting operations.

The Atlantic City Rail Line remained an exception, operating on a standard weekday schedule despite the broader rail restrictions elsewhere in the system. Officials advised customers using rail service to review adjusted timetables before traveling.

Bus service statewide continued without schedule changes, though NJ TRANSIT warned riders to expect delays as road conditions were addressed throughout New Jersey. Light rail services, including the Newark Light Rail and Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, also operated on regular weekday schedules.

Service on the River Line experienced a separate disruption, with trains suspended in both directions between the Waterfront Entertainment Center and the Walter Rand Transportation Center in Camden after motor vehicles became stuck on the tracks. Substitute bus service was provided along the affected segment.

Access Link paratransit service remained in operation on a regular weekday schedule, with NJ TRANSIT cautioning customers to allow additional travel time due to roadway conditions.

  • Rail lines statewide operating under Severe Weather Level 2 schedules
  • Buses, light rail, and Access Link running regular weekday service with delays expected
  • River Line partially suspended due to vehicles stuck on tracks near Camden

NJ TRANSIT urged customers to monitor njtransit.com, use the agency’s mobile app, and sign up for My Transit Alerts for real-time updates, while allowing extra time and exercising caution at stations, platforms, and sidewalks.
