A Toms River man has pleaded guilty in federal court to illegally voting in the 2022 midterm election, U.S. Attorney Robert Frazer announced Wednesday.
Eliezer Kadoch, 39, admitted before U.S. Magistrate Judge J. Brandon Day in Trenton to one count of voting by an alien in a federal election.
According to court records, Kadoch is a citizen of France and has never been a citizen of the United States.
Ballot cast during 2022 general election
Federal prosecutors said Kadoch cast a ballot during the November 2022 general election despite being legally ineligible to vote.
The election included the race for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, making it a federal election governed by federal voting laws.
Federal law prohibits non-U.S. citizens from voting in federal elections.
