NYC sanitation worker arrested for DWI in Manhattan

NEW YORK — An off-duty New York City sanitation worker was arrested late Tuesday night and charged with driving while intoxicated, according to police.

Richard Gonzalez, 53, was taken into custody at 10:55 p.m. within the confines of the NYPD’s 34th Precinct, which covers parts of Upper Manhattan. Authorities confirmed that Gonzalez is an employee of the Department of Sanitation (DSNY).

Details surrounding the arrest, including the circumstances leading to the traffic stop, were not immediately released. No injuries or property damage were reported in connection with the incident.

The DSNY has not yet commented on the arrest. Gonzalez is expected to face legal proceedings in the coming days.

The arrest highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to crack down on impaired driving across the city.
