NEW YORK, NY – Detectives are investigating a sexual bias-motivated assault on the Upper East Side from earlier this month. Today, police released a photo of the alleged suspect.
The incident took place on Monday, June 12, at approximately 3:08 AM, in front of 1565 1st Avenue.
According to the report, a 21-year-old male victim was walking when an unidentified male approached him and repeatedly punched him in the head. During the assault, the suspect made derogatory statements related to the victim’s sexual orientation. Subsequently, the assailant fled the scene on foot, and his whereabouts are currently unknown.
The victim suffered injuries to the left side of his face, including a black eye and a fracture to the nasal bone. He was transported to Lenox Hill Hospital for treatment, using private means of transportation. The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force has taken over the investigation.
The individual being sought is described as a male with a dark complexion and a medium build, aged approximately 25 to 40 years old. He is bald and was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, black pants, dark brown boots, and carrying a black book bag.
