Detectives are asking anyone with information to come forward after a 13-year-old girl was assaulted near Van Cortlandt Park following a bus ride in the Bronx.
The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect wanted in connection with the assault of a 13-year-old girl Tuesday night near Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
According to the NYPD, the incident occurred at approximately 10 p.m. after the victim and the unidentified individual exited a northbound BX9 MTA bus near Broadway and West 261st Street in the confines of the 50th Precinct. Police allege the suspect forced the girl into a wooded area of the park, assaulted her, and then fled on foot.
Detectives continue search for suspect
The NYPD released details of the investigation in an effort to identify the individual and is urging the public to review the information.
Police said, “When the victim and unidentified individual exited the bus in the vicinity of Broadway and West 261 Street, in the confines of the 50 Precinct in the Bronx, the individual grabbed the victim and dragged her into a wooded area inside Van Cortlandt Park.”
No arrests have been announced, and investigators have not released additional information about the suspect.
