Several Ocean County gas stations are selling regular gasoline well below the national average, offering drivers savings of nearly 40 cents per gallon.

Toms River, NJ – While the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline remains around $4.07 amid continued global supply concerns, drivers in Ocean County can still find fuel for well under $3.80, according to GasBuddy.

The lowest reported price in Ocean County on Friday was $3.69 per gallon at the Sunoco located at 1520 Route 37 East in Toms River, making it the least expensive station in the county at the time of publication.

BJ’s Wholesale Club in Toms River followed at $3.75, while several stations in Brick, Jackson, Manchester, and Manahawkin were reporting prices between $3.77 and $3.85.

Prices remain below U.S. average

With the national average hovering around $4.07 per gallon, Ocean County motorists are paying roughly 22 to 38 cents less per gallon than the average U.S. driver.

Fuel analysts say prices remain elevated nationally due to continued geopolitical tensions affecting global oil supplies, although retail prices have eased slightly from recent summer highs.

Why prices vary

Gas prices can differ significantly between stations because of several factors, including:

  • Local competition
  • Wholesale fuel costs
  • Transportation expenses
  • Brand pricing strategies
  • Membership discounts offered by warehouse clubs

Experts recommend using price-tracking apps such as GasBuddy before filling up, as prices can change multiple times throughout the day.
