Ocean County to acquire land for Brewers Bridge reconstruction in Jackson

TOMS RIVER, NJ – The Ocean County Board of Commissioners is moving forward with plans to rebuild Brewers Bridge in Jackson Township, authorizing the acquisition of land needed to complete the long-anticipated infrastructure project.

The county approved the acquisition of right-of-way and easement parcels along Brewers Bridge Road to allow for the reconstruction of the bridge spanning the South Branch of the Metedeconk River.

Officials said the project is essential to improving safety and maintaining a critical roadway link in the township’s transportation network.

Key Points

  • County advancing project to rebuild Brewers Bridge in Jackson Township
  • Three parcels to be acquired for right-of-way and construction access
  • Project aims to improve safety and preserve vital local roadway connection

Land acquisition approved for bridge work

Commissioners voted to authorize the purchase, exchange, or, if necessary, condemnation of three parcels required for the project. The right-of-way and easements will provide access for construction equipment and ensure sufficient space for bridge and roadway improvements.

Bridge replacement a safety priority

The Brewers Bridge structure, designated No. 1511-005, carries local traffic over the South Branch of the Metedeconk River and has long been targeted for replacement due to structural age and wear. The reconstruction will include a new bridge deck, modern safety features, and improved drainage.

County continues infrastructure investment

The project is part of Ocean County’s ongoing effort to modernize its bridges and roadways to meet current standards. County engineers said work on Brewers Bridge is expected to enhance traffic flow and long-term safety for drivers and pedestrians in the growing Jackson area.

Once the land acquisitions are finalized, the county will move toward final design and scheduling construction for the bridge replacement.
