BROOKLYN, N.Y. — An off-duty New York City corrections officer was arrested Wednesday night in Brooklyn on multiple forgery and possession of forged instrument charges, police said.

David Coley, 34, was taken into custody at approximately 10:21 p.m. within the confines of the NYPD’s 79th Precinct. Authorities confirmed Coley’s employment with the New York City Department of Correction at the time of his arrest.

Coley is facing a total of eight criminal charges, including two counts each of forgery in the second degree, criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, forgery in the third degree, and criminal possession of a forged instrument in the third degree. He was also charged with two counts of equipment violation related to safety glass.

Details surrounding the circumstances of Coley’s arrest, including what the forged documents allegedly involved, were not immediately disclosed by police.
