Office Depot Seeks to Capitalize on College Back-to-School Opportunities

Office Depot OfficeMax Enhances Back-to-School Shopping with Dormify Partnership

TRENTON, NJ – With multiple stores throughout New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, OfficeMax and Office Depot are hoping to position themselves to capitalize this summer on back-to-college shopping, increasing their line of back to school supplies to include back-to-school furniture.

The move comes as the brand attempts to expand its customers base and offerings amid an economy where families are tightening their budgets across the board.

Office Depot OfficeMax announced on Monday a new collaboration with Dormify, a prominent dorm room decor company. This partnership aims to facilitate the college move-in process by making Dormify’s trendy furnishings and essentials accessible in about 200 stores and through direct shipping to colleges.

The collaboration will provide students shopping for the 2024–2025 academic year with an expanded selection of college dorm supplies. Office Depot’s initiative not only enhances its product range but also simplifies the logistical challenges of setting up a college dorm. Products will be available for purchase both in-store and online at officedepot.com.

Kevin Moffitt, executive vice president of The ODP Corporation and president of Office Depot, highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting educational endeavors. “Our partnership with Dormify allows Office Depot OfficeMax to offer more options through our versatile shopping and shipping solutions,” Moffitt stated. He emphasized the company’s mission to equip students with necessary tools for success.

Dormify’s co-founder, Amanda Zuckerman, echoed the sentiment of easing the college preparation burden. She praised the partnership for its potential to streamline the myriad tasks involved in college move-in. “We’re thrilled that students and their families will have the opportunity to interact with our products firsthand in 200 markets conveniently located near many campuses,” Zuckerman said.

The partnership offers various shopping and shipping options, including the ability to pick up online orders at an Office Depot store near the student’s college during move-in. This service aims to address the demand for more flexible delivery and pickup options, which are increasingly sought after by college-bound students and their families.
