PHILADELPHIA, PA – Two serious crashes just hours apart left one pedestrian dead and another driver critically injured over the weekend.

The first collision occurred around 11:17 p.m. Saturday at Bustleton Avenue and Verree Road in the city’s 7th District.

Investigators said a 2022 BMW traveling north on Verree entered the intersection and struck a southbound 2013 Chevy head-on.

The 33-year-old BMW driver was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital in stable condition, while the 41-year-old Chevy driver remains critical following the impact.

Then, around 2:40 a.m. Sunday, a 52-year-old woman was fatally struck while crossing mid-block on the 4000 block of Girard Avenue.

Police said the victim was hit by an eastbound 2010 Nissan, which stayed at the scene. She was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and pronounced dead at 3:03 a.m.

Both crashes are under active investigation by the department’s Crash Investigation Division.

A night of routine travel turned tragic on Philadelphia streets.
