PATERSON, N.J. — The Paterson Police Department held a Promotion and Graduation Ceremony Monday, advancing sixteen officers into new leadership positions and officially swearing in five new members of the force.
The event was held at the Theater at Passaic County Community College and was attended by department personnel, local officials, and family members. The ceremony recognized both the accomplishments of experienced officers and the entry of new recruits who have completed their academy training.
Promotions included one captain, four lieutenants, two detective sergeants, six sergeants, and three detectives. The five new officers are now part of the department’s active ranks following their graduation.

The following officers were promoted: Captain Todd Pearl; Lieutenants Francisco Munoz, Kelvin Matos, David Tanis, and Troy Allen; Detective Sergeants Benny Ramos and Thomas Giaquinto; Sergeants Ricardo Bruce, Salvatore Macolino, Dominique Gibson, Eddie Goenaga, Edward M. Akins III, and Ramy Amir; and Detectives Ibraaheem Yanes, Emily Gonzalez, and Sasha Nina.
The new officers joining the department are Tyana Lawrie, Randaal Raymond, Xavier Torres, Jonathan Perez, and Dilan Frias.
“These promotions and new appointments are more than ceremonial, they are a reflection of this department’s commitment to professionalism, growth, and community service,” said Officer in Charge Patrick Murray.
