PITTSBURGH, PA – Reginald Bernard Blunt, a 32-year-old resident of McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for multiple federal offenses, including drug trafficking and firearm possession. The sentence was handed down on Tuesday by Senior United States District Judge Nora Barry Fischer, as announced by United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan.
Blunt’s convictions include possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of a methamphetamine and fentanyl mixture, possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. These charges stem from an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Pennsylvania State Police into a drug trafficking organization in McKees Rocks, which identified Blunt as a key participant.
On June 14, 2023, during the execution of a federal search warrant at Blunt’s residence, authorities discovered a backpack in his bedroom containing two prescription pill bottles with his name, a loaded handgun with 17 rounds of ammunition, and a “Glock switch” capable of converting the firearm to fully automatic. Additionally, approximately 60 grams of a fentanyl and methamphetamine mixture, 20 grams of pure fentanyl, around 1,000 rounds of ammunition, and $4,300 in cash were seized.
The investigation also uncovered traffic camera footage from a May 16, 2023, incident showing Blunt wielding a firearm during a public confrontation involving an adult male and a child. This confrontation and subsequent altercation led to the recovery of the firearm used by Blunt, who has prior felony convictions for drug trafficking and firearms offenses, thus barring him from possessing firearms or ammunition under federal law.
