November 26, 2024

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — A Philadelphia man was arrested and multiple weapons recovered after he allegedly pointed a firearm at a security guard during an altercation on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, police said Tuesday.

The incident occurred on November 24 at 11:32 p.m. at the Atlantic Palace on the 1500 block of the Boardwalk. Police said the suspect, Andrew Ibechem, 29, brandished a gun at a security guard during an argument before fleeing the scene.

Officer Danny Feliciano reviewed surveillance footage of the altercation and identified Ibechem as the suspect. Officers later determined he was staying at a hotel in Atlantic City, where he was apprehended by Officer John Bell.

A search warrant was executed on Ibechem’s hotel room and vehicle, leading to the recovery of two handguns, ammunition, and two knives, according to police.

Ibechem has been charged with four counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, aggravated assault, and certain person not to possess a weapon. He was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility. Police emphasized that these charges are accusations and that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Anyone with additional information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Atlantic City Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit at 609-347-5766 or submit an anonymous tip via text to tip411 (847411) beginning with ACPD.

Police say the arrest highlights their ongoing efforts to address weapon-related offenses in the city.
