Police Seek Suspect in Attack on Glen Burnie Street Vendor

Victim selling hats punched, robbed in broad daylight along Ritchie Highway.

Glen Burnie, Md. – A man selling hats and snacks along a busy stretch of Ritchie Highway was assaulted and robbed Monday afternoon, prompting an active investigation by Anne Arundel County Police.

Officers responded around 4:30 p.m. to the 6700 block of Ritchie Highway, where the victim reported being attacked during what initially appeared to be a routine sale. According to police, the suspect approached the group, expressed interest in buying an item, then turned violent.

The victim told officers the suspect grabbed him, punched him in the face, and took a hat before fleeing toward Ritchie Highway. No additional injuries were detailed in the initial report.

Investigation underway, suspect description released

Detectives with the Northern District are continuing to investigate and are asking the public for help identifying the suspect.

Police described the suspect as “Black male in his 20’s, 5’7”-5’8” with short black hair with twists, wearing a white/black North Face jacket.”

The incident occurred in a commercial corridor known for steady foot traffic, raising concerns about safety for vendors operating in the area.
