MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — One person was taken into custody Saturday evening following an armed robbery that escalated into a barricaded situation in the 400 block of 27th Avenue North, according to the Myrtle Beach Police Department.

Officers initially responded around 6:41 p.m. to reports of an armed robbery. When police arrived on scene, the situation developed into a barricaded subject incident, prompting a significant law enforcement response.

By 8:46 p.m., police confirmed that the individual had been taken into custody without reported injuries. Authorities did not release the name of the suspect or details about the robbery.

“You will continue to see a large police presence in the area as officers continue their investigation,” the department stated on social media. Officials have urged the public to avoid the area and use alternate routes during the ongoing response.

As of Sunday, no charges had been formally announced, and police have not indicated whether any weapons were recovered at the scene.
