Repeat Shoplifter Arrested by Police

April 8, 2024

CUMBERLAND, MD — A routine response to a shoplifting report on April 8th, 2024, led Cumberland City Police to a repeat offender with an outstanding arrest warrant.

The incident unfolded at a business located on the 400 block of Greene St, where an employee reported a male subject concealing food items in his clothing without making payment. Police swiftly identified and detained the suspect, who initially provided a false name. Further investigation revealed his true identity as 31-year-old Dillon Roy Nicholson of Cumberland, MD.

Nicholson’s deceitful tactics came to light alongside the discovery of an active arrest warrant stemming from a previous shoplifting incident on March 31st at a Park St business. Facing charges for two counts of theft under $100, fraud to avoid prosecution, and obstructing and hindering, Nicholson was transported to the Allegany County Detention Center’s Central Booking unit to await his initial court appearance.
