Report Shows New Jersey Voting Districts With High Migrant Driver’s License Registration are Democrat Held Strongholds

A new report by New Jersey Assemblyman Paul Kanitra estimates that the state's largest concentrations of undocumented immigrants holding driver's licenses are located in Democratic legislative districts, a finding he says underscores the need for closer oversight of New Jersey's voter registration system.

TRENTON, N.J. — A new report this week out of Trenton shows that New Jersey legislative districts with high numbers of migrant drivers license registrations are districts controlled by Democrats.

That data is leading one lawmaker to request a further review of voting records by state officials.

New Jersey Assemblyman Paul Kanitra has released a new report analyzing where undocumented immigrants holding New Jersey driver’s licenses reside, concluding that the highest estimated totals are concentrated in legislative districts represented by Democrats.

Kanitra’s report, The Cost of Illegal Aliens to New Jerseyans, uses New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission affidavit data to estimate where undocumented immigrants obtained standard driver’s licenses under New Jersey law. According to the report, Legislative District 33 ranks first with an estimated 10,184 undocumented licensed drivers, followed by District 31 with 9,294, District 32 with 6,094, District 29 with 5,617 and District 35 with 5,344. Each of those districts is represented by Democratic lawmakers.

“We spent six months meticulously gathering data, submitting OPRA requests and crunching numbers,” Kanitra said in announcing the report. “By pulling the actual affidavits illegals use to get driver’s licenses, we not only were able to definitively prove over 100,000 are crowding our roadways… but for the first time we can map where they live by zip code.”

The report also lists District 20 with an estimated 5,237 undocumented licensed drivers, District 28 with 4,987, District 22 with 4,368, District 36 with 4,177 and District 17 with 3,191. Together, those districts make up the highest concentrations identified in the report, all of which are represented by Democrats.

Among Republican-held districts, Legislative District 1 ranks highest with an estimated 2,800 undocumented licensed drivers. It is followed by District 21 with 2,106, District 2 with 2,079, District 30 with 1,489, District 9 with 1,134 and District 10 with 1,024.

Kanitra said the report is intended to inform the public and lawmakers as New Jersey continues facing questions about election integrity following the state’s acknowledgment that approximately 6,600 noncitizens were mistakenly registered to vote through an MVC-related administrative error.

“The State and this Administration has lost its freaking mind,” Kanitra said. “The situation simply isn’t sustainable. Every legal New Jerseyan’s wallet has been emptied to pay for illegals.”

The report does not allege that undocumented immigrants holding driver’s licenses are registered voters or voted illegally. Instead, Kanitra argues the concentration of undocumented licensed drivers deserves additional scrutiny because New Jersey’s automatic voter registration system is linked to transactions at the Motor Vehicle Commission.

Separately, the Department of Homeland Security has identified approximately 35,000 New Jersey voter registrations as potential matches requiring further verification. State officials have emphasized those records are preliminary matches and should not be interpreted as confirmed cases of ineligible voting.
