STAFFORD TOWNSHIP, NJ – Residents, mostly Republicans came out to slam the Stafford Township Republican Party over their decision to fund a new library in a town that already has a library, during a global pandemic, instead of funding an already underfunded township police department.
Stafford resident Diane Mazzacca lead the charge against the mayor and Republican council members who refuse to fund police, but voted to spend $6 million on a new public library.
“I figured because you people were Republicans, I was thrilled to have Republicans, I was proud until just now,” she said. “We’re all trying to make our ends meet, you’re all sounding like Democrats, throwing the money around, I’ve had it.”
“You’re supposed to be on our side, what happened?” she asked the council. “
Councilman George Williams voted against the library and in support of allocating more funding to police.
Mazzacca criticized Republicans loyal to Ocean County GOP Chairman Frank Holman that sit on the town council.
