New City, NY – The Rockland County District Attorney’s Office has announced the indictment of Jose Quizhpi, a 48-year-old man from Queens, New York, following an undercover sting operation aimed at catching online predators.
According to District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II, Quizhpi was indicted by a Rockland County Grand Jury on charges including eight counts of Attempted Disseminating Indecent Material to Minors in the First Degree, two counts of Attempted Rape in the Third Degree, and one count of Attempted Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
The allegations state that between November 5 and November 17, 2024, Quizhpi engaged in explicit communications via text, photographs, and videos with an individual he believed to be a 15-year-old girl. Unbeknownst to him, he was actually communicating with an undercover investigator from the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office. The plan was to meet this supposed minor at a movie theater in The Town of Clarkstown for sexual activities, where Quizhpi was subsequently arrested upon arrival.
District Attorney Walsh emphasized the severity of the case, stating, “Protecting innocent children from sexual predators who are using the internet to exploit them is a top priority for my Office and these actions will not be tolerated.” He further advised parents to educate their children about the dangers of sharing personal information online and interacting with strangers.
The operation was conducted by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Special Investigations and Special Victims Unit, with support from the Clarkstown Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations.
