SECAUCUS, N.J. — A team of Secaucus police officers helped save the life of a 42-year-old man who was found unresponsive at Harmon Cove Towers on Monday afternoon, authorities said.
At approximately 3:47 p.m. on June 30, the Secaucus Police Department responded to a medical emergency involving a man who was not breathing and was cold to the touch.
Upon arrival, Officer William Kosky initiated CPR. He was joined shortly after by Officer Emmanuel Mikros, who used a bag valve mask to assist with the victim’s breathing, and Officer Matthew Kirvin, who rotated with Kosky in performing chest compressions.
The officers deployed an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and delivered three shocks to the victim while continuing CPR. A pulse was detected after emergency medical personnel arrived.
Hudson Regional Hospital EMTs and Jersey City Medical Center paramedics transported the man to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he remains in stable condition.
Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller praised the coordinated response, stating, “The continuous training of Secaucus police officers once again proved fruitful and saved another life.”
