CATONSVILLE, Md. — For the second time this week, Maryland Lottery officials have confirmed a $1 million Powerball ticket sold in the state, with the latest winning ticket purchased at the Soda Pop Shop in Catonsville.
The winning ticket matched five of the six numbers drawn on Wednesday night, securing the second-tier prize. The winning numbers for the June 4 drawing were 5, 17, 23, 35, 45 and Powerball 24. The Soda Pop Shop, located at 1026 Ingleside Avenue, will receive a $2,500 retailer bonus for selling the ticket.
A second prize-winning ticket, worth $50,000, was also sold for the same drawing. That third-tier ticket was purchased at Woodlawn Mart, 1818 Woodlawn Drive in Woodlawn, according to Maryland Lottery officials.
The Lottery has reminded players to sign the back of their winning tickets and keep them in a secure location. Winners have 182 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes.
To claim prizes over $25,000, players must visit the Maryland Lottery headquarters, located at 1800 Washington Blvd., Suite 330, in the Montgomery Park Business Center in Baltimore. An appointment is required, and no walk-ins are accepted.
Second million-dollar win this week
Wednesday’s win marks the second $1 million Powerball ticket sold in Maryland this week. The previous winner was from the June 2 drawing and was purchased at the Safeway at 8858 Waltham Woods Road in Parkville. That prize has not yet been claimed.
“Instructions for claiming prizes are available on the How to Claim page of the Lottery website,” the agency said in a statement.
Retailers benefit from selling winning tickets, with both the Catonsville and Woodlawn businesses receiving bonuses from the Lottery.
Maryland joins a growing list of states reporting multiple high-tier Powerball wins this month, as the nationwide game continues to draw interest with large jackpots and frequent payouts.
The Maryland Lottery has not released any information on the identity of the winners. All claims must be completed by the end of the 182-day period.
