BRONX, N.Y. — Seven alleged members of the Bronx-based gang Courtlandt Over Everything (COE) have been indicted in connection with a series of shootings, including a retaliatory attack that wounded two innocent bystanders, prosecutors announced Thursday.
The 62-count indictment charges the defendants with conspiracy, attempted murder, assault, and multiple weapons offenses. Authorities say the shootings occurred between July and October 2024 in the Mott Haven and Melrose neighborhoods, endangering residents and bystanders, including children leaving school.
“These defendants put the lives of countless people at risk in senseless episodes of gunfire all in broad daylight,” Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark said. “They put the entire community in danger, and they will be held accountable for their actions.”
One shooting on July 22, allegedly carried out in retaliation for the murder of a COE member’s father, injured a rival gang member, a 67-year-old man, and a 30-year-old NYCHA employee. Another shooting on October 8 occurred outside a school during dismissal, with 12 shots fired.
Some of the suspects reportedly bragged about their crimes in drill rap videos, with lyrics referencing specific shootings. Police Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch commended law enforcement’s efforts in bringing charges against the defendants.
Authorities continue to search for one suspect, Zaire Flowers, 18, while the other six have been arraigned.
