Newark, NJ – City officials are asking for the public’s help identifying a woman accused of stealing baby clothes from a Market Street outlet.
The suspect was recorded on surveillance video removing tags before leaving the store.
Police said the merchandise taken was valued at $248.

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. said the incident occurred at about 4:50 p.m. on November 7 at the Gap Factory in the 100 block of Market Street. The woman was seen placing items into a bag before leaving the store.
Director Miranda said the suspect is described as a Black female who wore a black jacket, grey sweatpants, a grey hoodie, and grey and white sneakers. She had a bushy ponytail and carried a brown pocketbook.
Requests for public assistance
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the woman’s identity to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS. Tips can be submitted anonymously and may qualify for a reward.
