Fight with gunfire report leads to arrest in Schenectady neighborhood

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — A report of a fight involving gunfire sent police rushing to a city neighborhood Tuesday, ending with one arrest after suspects fled into a home.

The incident happened around 5:23 p.m. near Second Avenue and Bluff Avenue.

Officers arriving at the scene learned those involved had run into a residence on Bluff Avenue.

Police set up a perimeter and were able to safely get the occupants to come out without further incident.

Following the investigation, 19-year-old Anthony C. Briffault of Schenectady was taken into custody.

He faces charges of second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and additional details may be released.
