Gaithersburg, MD — The Montgomery County Department of Police, in collaboration with the Prince George’s County Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), has arrested 32-year-old Kofi Aidoo of Silver Spring on firearms-related charges, including prohibited possession of a firearm.

On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, MCPD officers, joined by officers from Prince George’s County Police and the ATF, staged near the Glenmont United Methodist Church in the 12900 block of Georgia Ave before serving a residential search warrant related to this case. Aidoo is accused of stealing a handgun from a gun range in Prince George’s County.

During the execution of the search warrant, officers recovered a firearm and took Aidoo into custody without incident.

MCPD has received inquiries about the presence of law enforcement in the area. The activity was strictly related to this criminal investigation and had no connection to immigration status or enforcement.
