Silver Spring winner scores big twice in less than 20 months

Silver Spring man hits $50K lottery jackpot again just 19 months after $250K win

Silver Spring, MD – A Montgomery County man is celebrating his second major Maryland Lottery win in less than two years, after claiming a $50,000 prize on a scratch-off ticket purchased at a Kensington gas station this week.

The lucky winner, who runs a home remodeling business, previously scored $250,000 on a Cash Winfall ticket in June 2024. This time, it was the $50,000 Cash scratch-off ticket that delivered another top prize.

He purchased the winning $20 ticket at the Sunoco located at 10550 Connecticut Avenue. After checking the ticket at the store’s scanner, he was stunned when the prize flashed on the screen. He then scratched the rest of the ticket to confirm the win.

Back in 2024, the man used his lottery windfall to help both of his daughters—one paid off her student loans and the other received help buying a home. As for this recent win, he said he hasn’t decided how to use the money yet but noted, “there’s always something.”

A regular scratch-off player, he also occasionally tries his luck with Multi-Match games and said he plans to keep playing.

The $50,000 Cash game, which launched in late 2022, began with 160 top prizes of $50,000. Following this most recent win, 57 top prizes remain unclaimed. The game also still offers hundreds of thousands of other prizes ranging from $20 to $5,000.

The Sunoco station that sold the winning ticket receives a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
