PHILADELPHIA — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials announced the removal of Martin Enrique Bacigalupo Olivera, a Peruvian national wanted in his home country for homicide, on Dec. 19.

Bacigalupo, who had overstayed his visa and remained in the United States unlawfully since 2005, was apprehended by ERO Newark in October following a targeted enforcement operation in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He had been the subject of a Peruvian arrest warrant issued in July for crimes against life, body, and health, specifically homicide.

Bacigalupo’s immigration violations and criminal history in the United States include multiple arrests, such as a 2009 retail theft conviction in Pennsylvania, for which he was sentenced to up to 23 months in prison. He was previously deported to Peru in 2009 but reentered the U.S. illegally in 2022.

“The removal of Bacigalupo underscores our commitment to public safety and the enforcement of our immigration laws,” said ERO Philadelphia Acting Field Office Director Brian McShane.

Bacigalupo’s case highlights continued cooperation between U.S. and Peruvian authorities to ensure that individuals evading justice in their home countries face accountability.
