Car vanishes overnight from Stafford parking lot in auto theft case

Stafford, VA – A Stafford resident’s vehicle disappeared overnight from a parking lot on Olympic Drive in what deputies are investigating as a confirmed auto theft.

Deputy D. A. Robertson was called to the scene on Sunday at approximately 2:57 p.m., after the victim reported their vehicle missing. The victim stated they had parked the car after returning home from work on Saturday evening. When they returned to retrieve it the next day, the vehicle was gone.

A check with local towing companies confirmed the vehicle had not been impounded or removed for any official reason, leading deputies to classify the case as a motor vehicle theft.

The make and model of the vehicle were not disclosed, and it’s unclear if there were any signs of forced entry or surveillance footage in the area. Deputies are continuing to investigate and are working to identify any possible suspects or witnesses.

As of Tuesday, the stolen vehicle has not been recovered.
