STOWE TOWNSHIP, PA – A quiet stretch behind Broadway Avenue became the focus of a homicide investigation early Saturday morning after a man was found shot multiple times and later died at a hospital, according to Allegheny County Police.
Emergency crews were dispatched just after 3 a.m. to Derby Alley, where first responders located the victim suffering from what officials described as multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported for treatment but was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.
Investigation underway in early morning shooting
“The Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit responded to a request for assistance in Stowe Township,” the department stated. “On July 25, 2026, at approximately 3:01 AM, County 9-1-1 was notified of a shooting in Derby Alley, behind the 800 block of Broadway Avenue.”
Officials said the circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation as detectives begin collecting evidence and interviewing potential witnesses. “First responders found a male victim suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds,” the department said. “The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.”
Suspect reported fleeing scene
Authorities say early information points to a suspect leaving the area moments after the shooting. “Preliminary information shows that a male fled from the scene shortly after the incident occurred,” police said.
Investigators have not released a description of the suspect or indicated whether the shooting was targeted. Detectives are continuing to process the scene and review any available surveillance footage in the area.
