Suffolk County Police team up with local civic groups to help victims of Hurricane Ian

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – The Suffolk County Police Department has partnered with several local civic groups in order to collect supplies and aid for victims of Hurricane Ian in Puerto Rico and the southeastern United States.

“In an effort to help those impacted by the storms, the SCPD partnered with several organizations, including Latino Mixx radio station and Liga De Justicia Foundation, to collect much-needed resources, including non-perishable food, flashlights, and batteries. A local shipping company, which wishes to remain anonymous, has generously offered to ship the supplies to Puerto Rico,” the SFPD said today in a statement.

Volunteers packed supplies into boxes and trucks for their long journey to help those in need in Florida and Puerto Rico.

“I want to thank the local businesses, as well as our generous residents who quickly came together to help the people of Puerto Rico when they needed it most,” Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney K. Harrison said. “I’m constantly amazed, but not surprised, how the people of Suffolk County come together during a crisis.”
