Suspect found with illegal gun, body armor held at ocean county jail

TOMS RIVER, N.J. — Justyn Duval Rodriguez, is being held without bail in Ocean County Jail after being charged with multiple weapons-related offenses, including illegal possession of a handgun and body armor.

Rodriguez was booked into custody on Saturday, June 21. Jail records show he is facing four separate charges.

According to the charges filed, Rodriguez is accused of unlawful possession of a handgun (N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5B), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose (2C:39-4D), illegal possession of body armor (2C:39-3F(2)), and possession of a prohibited ammunition magazine (2C:39-3J).

All offenses fall under New Jersey’s strict weapons statutes. The unlawful possession of a handgun and weapon for unlawful purpose are third-degree crimes, while the magazine and body armor charges are classified as fourth-degree offenses.

No release date or bond set

Rodriguez was booked into Ocean County Jail at 8:36 a.m. on June 21. Records indicate he is being held on a no-bail status, and the case remains open as of Wednesday. No projected release date has been issued.

There are no detainers or aliases associated with Rodriguez, whose inmate profile lists him as having black collar-length hair and brown eyes.
