A man sought in a fatal Sunday morning assault in Myrtle Beach was taken into custody Monday by the U.S. Marshals Service after police identified him as the suspect in a homicide investigation.
Myrtle Beach, SC – A man accused of fatally assaulting another person inside a Myrtle Beach home early Sunday morning is now in custody after members of the U.S. Marshals Service Carolina Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested him following a daylong search.

Myrtle Beach police said officers were called to a residence at 541 Ramsey Drive around 6:00 a.m. Sunday for a reported assault. When officers arrived, they found a victim suffering from serious injuries.
The injured person was transported to a hospital for treatment but later died from those injuries, according to police.
Suspect identified after fatal assault
Investigators identified the suspect as Corey Anthony Stephens, 43, of Myrtle Beach. Police said Stephens and the victim knew each other and that the incident appears to be isolated.
Stephens, who police said also goes by the nickname “Vegas,” was initially believed to still be in the Myrtle Beach area after the attack. Authorities described him as a Black male approximately 6 feet tall and weighing about 290 pounds.
Law enforcement issued an alert asking the public not to approach Stephens and to contact authorities with any information about his whereabouts.
U.S. Marshals task force makes arrest
Monday, Myrtle Beach Police Department announced Stephens had been taken into custody by members of the U.S. Marshals Service Carolina Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Police said the arrest occurred just minutes before the department posted its update confirming Stephens was in custody. Authorities have not yet released additional details about where the arrest took place.
